Sausage and Apple Plait by Women's Institute

Apple, celery and parnsip soup

Ingredients

  • 8 oz / 225g rough puff pastry
  • 8 oz / 225g sausage meat
  • 8 oz / 225g cooking apples
  • egg or milk for glaze

Instructions

Step 1
Roll out pastry into large rectangle.

Step 2
Spread sausage meat down centre of pastry.

Step 3
Arrange the peeled and sliced apples on top.

Step 4
Slash pastry in a slanting direction down each side, fold top over sausage then take one piece of pastry from each side and form a plait over the filling.

Step 5
Brush with egg or milk.

Step 6
Bake in the oven at 220℃ / gas 7 / 425℉ for 25-30 minutes.
